Just a little something about languages and Brussels/Belgium:
Although Brussels is geographically in Flanders, it forms its own region, called ‘Bruxelles-capitale’ and is officially bilingual (French and Dutch) with French being more spoken (around 60%) by Brusselers than Dutch. So if you know French, no one will be annoyed if you speak it in Brussels ;)(bilingualism is required for most jobs in Brussels).
Also, we Belgians have different types of waffles: ‘gaufres de Liège’ (which we eat plain and on the go) or ‘gaufres de Bruxelles’ (which are more rectangular and more airy in taste & with which people like to have all sorts of toppings like ice cream, fruits or icing sugar). Those two are the most common ones but we have more : )).
