I do an Omega 3 supplement (2:1 EPA/DHA ratio, so 1000mg EPA and 500mg or less of DHA, since we get DHA in our diets), 2000IU Vitamin D, a good multivitamin, 500mg Vitamin C. Paired with regular SAD lamp use, this regimen has helped me immensely (20+ yrs of SAD)

Why do some people, myself included, suffer so much more? I feel like most people around me in Boston are unaffected besides general annoyance. Love these tips, except as a stay-at-home mom with little ones, so many are undoable and just contribute to the trapped feeling.

After PA, we moved to Arizona, and the difference was stunning. Just last week, after 7 straight days of rain/clouds, the sun came out. I literally felt like a different person. The day prior, I cried at Walmart. Then the sun came out and I was cleaning the house, writing, running errands, enjoying a lovely glass of wine. I can take about 3 days of clouds before it hits me. I’m so grateful to live again in a sunny place. For me, I address SAD with vitamin D (year-round), Omega-3, exercise (daily, daily, daily), a blue light and getting out of the house. That last bit is huge. If I stay inside too long, it all closes in on me. When my kids are all grown up and off slaying their own dragons, I’m moving back to AZ and basking in the sun. I love all of these tips and am going to be checking out fire cupping. 🙂
