I have always been a big believer in leaning in to gratitude. I recently read an article where Glennon Doyle was speaking about getting what we want as women, and she spoke about gratitude in a different way – she sees that emphasis on gratitude an a distinctly female cross to bear, and actually something which serves to keep women humble & quell desire and ambition… I think she was quoted as saying something along the lines of “you don’t see men telling each other to write in gratitude journals” which did strike me. I’m not sure I agree. I think that gratitude a strong, positive force in my life and I love your suggestions for paying it forward… It did make me think though. Just another perspective I guess!

I read it 3x to try to understand it. I see it as just narcissistic foo foo – a dreamer expressing herself through poetry. I am a been there, done that guy (not macho) with 3 lovely daughters who are also very accomplished just “doers”.
Being a ” doer” means you see, accept and take on all the challenges in daily life before the dreamers. Look forward each day to taking on any and all challenges presented. Simply put, just cut the wishes and dreams and warm bread and move quickly towards “just getting the job of living well done”, and maximize immediately what you are now and plan how you can be better tomorrow. It is called the challenge of life – just “go for it .” Talk is cheap because it doesn’t take any action. Action takes a higher level of effort – its called “doing.” All this wimpy talk is just a smoke screen for just “what I want to be” -nothing more than a life roadblock, or detour – a delay from moving to the next step up in your life. What you have said and applauded by a few friends is whaa,whaa – I wish, I should, I could have, I want.. Shorten the road to a life accomplishements by just being a “doer.” Just get there. Those who can – do. Those who can’t – just write poetry about why they can’t. The warm bread is a symbol of the comfort and safety felt being in utero. Birth was just day one of having to take on life challenges yourself.
Just “get there” where ever that may be for you by just maximizing each days efforts on life’s challenges. Doers aren’t wimpy – no time for this self indulgant mish mash. Enjoy doing, enjoy the challenge of doing and enjoy all of the challenges of life itself. Close your eyes at night with a prayer that you gave it all you possibly could and look forward tomorrow to doing even better. The size of the obstacles/challenges is meaningless. All this giving to others that you wish to bestow comes au natural. Your personal life success casts an aura upon all those around you. It is your aura that lights the pathway you wish to help create for others.

This note was written with a full respect of your efforts. There are no excuses in life because you can’t BS yourself.
