In reply to Karen. Hi, Karen! Thanks for your comment! What I meant by this was my life hasn't changed in that I have been able to continue my life as normal as possible. My privilege has allowed me to keep working, see family on FaceTime (or distanced in their yard nearby) and continue to plan my wedding and marry my fiance. At the end of the day, life has certainly changed for me, but I have I have a healthy family, have been able to safely WFH, and see my friends through Zoom. I wanted to reiterate that in comparison to others' lives deeply affected by this pandemic, I have been fortunate to not feel a harsh, life-altering impact. Hope that helps answer your question! I read this article a few days ago, and keep mentally circling back to your statement “My life hasn’t changed too dramatically since March…”. Perhaps you’re referencing your work-life, not life-life as a whole, as you then continue to talk about your job and your fiance’s job? I have been working throughout the pandemic, as my industry is essential – and I actually “go to work” (cannot WFH). The mechanics of my daily work-life are definitely impacted by Covid, so many rules and regulations, so much fear and anxiety as it’s my responsibility to keep my employees and customers safe and healthy.

And then all the other aspects of our “lives” (as work/career is but one serving of the enchilada) – not seeing friends or extended family, no social outings or gatherings, not going on vacations, changing celebratory/wedding plans……that sounds like BIG LIFE CHANGES to me.

So maybe a re-phrase of “My work situation hasn’t changed too dramatically since March….”? Just trying to connect on this one, to understand.

That’s amazing! Eloping sounds intimate and incredible, especially on a private, safe island. I’m trying to let it sink in that despite all the changes we’ve had to make, this will be such a time to remember. It will sit with us all forever, and seeing the people that make us feel most loved – will be a strong way to celebrate 🙂

I’m also planning a wedding for October! My partner and I have always wanted to elope so honestly for us the pandemic has kind of given us an excuse to do so without guilt. We rented a large, beautiful cabin on a private island a few hours north, are inviting the four friends we’re seeing regularly right now, my best friend is flying up from Florida to officiate, and we’ll all get tested before we go. I only hired a photographer, everything else will be a hodgepodge of effort from myself and my friends, and family will attend via Zoom. Even with these precautions I feel guilt about it all!
