Finkel’s book is excellent for all couples—hetero and gay. While there’s unfortunately not enough marriage research yet with same-sex couples as participants (it’s a growing body of work and thankfully more being done in all social science fields all the time), Finkel is super inclusive and integrates the research on gay couples where it exists.
