Her dad is Barack Obama and she doesn’t like white people. OMG. Why would we vote for you? Seriously. When did you begin to hate your own race? Notice the ‘Random shooting of Black people (only),…not to include the white race (or any other for that matter). ‘Wet behind the ears lady’—should be relegated to Minn., for the rest of your years. Stay up north with the rest of the radical left. Seems like you’re more concerned with there being LGBTQ representation than doing what the majority wants. Just saying…you got personal issues to deal with first.

I loved this interview. I’ve been considering a run for office really since the 4th grade but now more than ever. I got appointed to my local Parks & Rec commission the day before I moved to the neighboring town. It was devastating. My chance to get in there and make things happen lasted all of one day. It’s inspiring to keep being reminded that if we keep showing up, things will happen. Thanks, again!

I love this message and find comfort in this silver-lining from last November’s horrible election!

I do worry about a message of just “showing up” being as important as a “certain skill set and experience”. Trump just showed up and defeated a much more experienced and capable candidate. I would hands-down vote for the more experienced and capable candidate if equity is clearly part of their agenda regardless of whether they look like me or share the same gender identity. I think it’s a disservice to lots of qualified, experienced women who are running to say otherwise.

Not that it should matter, but I am a queer black woman so that’s my perspective.

This is such an important message, especially now. I’m not huge into politics, but I am a big believer in one’s civic duty to vote and public service. This post is just so timely with what I’ve been listening to (Obama Summit’s on getting involved) and reading lately. A book that I just finished, “Thanks Obama,” by David List said it best about getting involved: “Only service can make you realize how insignificant–and yet how meaningful–your time on earth really is.”
